I live in Aikton Parish, in Cumbria, right in the centre of my County Council constituency of Bowness - on - Solway, Thursby and Caldbeck. This is my third term as a councillor on Cumbria County Council, and I am also an Allerdale Borouh councillor (2nd term) for the Warnell Ward, and have been a Parish councillor for some 30 + years, most of those on Aikton Parish Council.

I am married to Carolyn, and have 2 grown up daughters and one grown up son

With a background in Sales and Marketing, I spent many years in Financial Services. I have always been keen on sport, and while having played many of the types of sport available, I spent many years playing and umpiring Hockey. I like walking, gardening and reading, when time allows from the daily routine of being a councillor. I like many types of music, but I am particularly fond of Jazz: I help at the Keswick Jazz Festival in May each year.
